Sr. National Championship Day 3

La Quinta - no change in the weather today or tomorrow. It was moving day with everyone looking to improve their position in the flight for a run at the leaders tomorrow. Tonight team MN got together for a cookout at the house the Barrett's and Alexander's rented on the 8th hole of the Nicklaus course. We are sitting around discussing the days events and enjoying the food and fellowship.

Warren Ferber shot his best round of the week so far with an 85 on the Nicklaus course to capture a 1 stroke lead in Sr. Jones. He made a birdie on the difficult par 4 fifth hole. Warren's experience on the Stadium course from the Western Masters earlier this year should help him tomorrow. He'll have a mid-day tee time so surviving the heat will be a big part of his challenge. Please send good thoughts his way tomorrow.

John Juntilla shot 77 in the afternoon heat on the Norman course. He made birdies on the 1st and 12th holes. He is in 3rd place 5 shots back. John said he had some trouble with the driver early in the round but got it back under control on the back nine. He'll look to make up the deficit on the Palmer course tomorrow. Hopefully he can channel a bit of David Duval. Yours truly finally posted a decent score shooting a 74. My round featured 3 birdies although John topped 2 of them so not much hope for a SKIN. I'm in a tie for 27th. There were no SKIN$ in Sr. Palmer yesterday so today's pot was $4200. It sounds like there may have been a single winner today.

Dan Barrett carded an 87 on the Palmer course in Sr. Hogan. He moved up several spots to T81. Dean Dubreuil shot 96 and is now T144. They will play the Norman course for the final round.

George Hardgrove took over the top spot among the Sarazen six. He shot an 88 and is now T51. He made birdie on the par 4 15th of the Stadium course. Steven Holland also shot an 88 and is now T76. Ed Favorite posted his best round with an 89. He is now T95. Douglas Bird shot 104 probably due to the oversize wallet in his back pocket. He sits at T114. Paul Alexander shot a second consecutive 95 and is now T118. Mike Miller had trouble escaping from Alcatraz. 9 balls and a 1 putt later his sentence was commuted. He is now 151st. They take on the Nicklaus course tomorrow.

Todd Klocke shot 111 on the Nicklaus course . He made birdie on the par 3 third. He is in 58th place. He will finish on the Stadium course.
