Sr. National Championship Day 2

La Quinta, CA - 107 degrees with a 55 degree dew point. Forecast calls for the same the next 3 days. Can't wait to get back to MN fall golf. Tomorrow, and Monday, the pairings are arranged by position on the leaderboard. The leaders play later in the day. Everybody will be looking to move up tomorrow for a chance to cash on Monday. Tonight was Casino night. The Ferbers won a return stay at La Quinta while John Juntilla won a new putter which as you'll see below he clearly doesn't need.

Warren Ferber posted a 91 on the Norman course. He played the par 3s in 1 over. He is now in 3rd place in Sr. Jones only 4 shots back of the leader. He gets the Nicklaus course tomorrow.

John Juntilla continued his good play in Sr. Palmer. He shot 4 over 76 on the Stadium course. His made 2 birdies including the famous 17th island green hole named Alcatraz. He move up the leaderboard and now is in a tie for 3rd 7 shots back. Yours truly had an 87 (T63) due to a bogey sort of thing going on my first nine holes and then was perfect even par on the second nine except for my Tin Cup impression on the 6th hole leading to an 8. Bounced the first one off the top of the railroad ties and decided to re-tee rather than move up to the drop zone. I'd still be there but I was running low on golf balls. Tomorrow we move to the Norman course.

The Sr. Sarazen Six all played this morning on the Palmer course. Douglas Bird continues to lead the pack, T62, with a 93 today. He made an eagle on the par 5 7th hole and claimed $1133 in SKIN$ money . George Hardgrove (T73) and Ed Favorite (T127) both shot 94s. Ed's round was 5 shots better than round 1. Paul Alexander went 2 shots lower than the day before posting a 95, now at T127. Steven Holland posted a 97 and now sits T111. Mike Miller shot 112 putting him at 155th. They play the Stadium course for round 3.

Todd Klocke went 10 shots lower today in the Sr. Snead flight on the Norman course to move up the leaderboard to 57th. He'll take on the Nicklaus course tomorrow.

In Sr. Hogan, Dan Barrett posted a 95 and moved to T88. His round included a birdie on the 14th of the Nicklaus course. Dean Dubreuil bettered his first round by 5 strokes shooting 90 and now sits at T138. He had a birdie on the par 5 15th of the Nicklaus course. They tee it up on the Palmer course next.
