I'm sending this today so you don't think it's an April Fools joke tomorrow.  There was a good bit of melting yesterday and hopefully it continues today with the temp. and rain.  Let's keep our fingers crossed that the forecast for the Twin Cities is correct and we only get a dusting so we can all start hitting balls outside by the time The Masters comes around next week.

Our 2014 events schedule opens for registration tomorrow so there are a couple of things I want to make sure you know about beforehand.

1) You may sign up for any or all of the events on the 2014 local schedule beginning April 1.  There are 8 events shown on our schedule currently.  There is a fall event setup for Purple Hawk in Cambridge on Sunday 10/5 but that is a 2015 season event and doesn't show on the 2014 schedule so keep that date open.  I'm also working on a couple of others including a private club event that will likley be a weekday opportunity and another fall event, a team match play event, in honor of this being a  Ryder Cup year.  More to follow.

2) Credit cards are required to register for all events but your credit card will not be charged until 1 week before the event (please note this convenience is for our local events only).  I will send a reminder email one day before your card is charged to give you an opportunity to cancel your registration without penalty.

3) A $7.50 cancellation fee will apply to all withdrawals to cover credit card processing fees. Withdrawal after the registration deadline will only be refunded (less $7.50), after the tournament, if the course does not charge for a no show.

4) If you are contemplating playing Nationals I want to remind you that aside from qualifying you must also meet eligibility criteria by playing 5 tournaments this season rather than 5 rounds as in the past.

Congratulations to Dan Barrett, Sarazen, who captured his first win of the season while visiting Winter Garden, FL at the beginning of March at the Stoneybrook West GC.

Jeff Gallagher, Palmer, placed 2nd this past weekend at Adams Pointe in Kansas City.

Please join me in welcoming 5 more new members.
- Dan Barnhouse of St. Michael will be playing in Palmer
- Robert Dew of Stillwater will be playing in Palmer
- Dean Dubreuil of Balmertown, ON, Canada will be playing Sr. Palmer
- Jon Parrento of Andover will be playing Sarazen
- Matthew Petschl of Maple Grove will be playing Championship

Now is the best time to invite your friends to join while the excitement of a new season is at it's peak. Remember to refer your friends.  Have them put your name in the Referred by a Member field on the New Member registration page  and you will receive an $80 GolfNow twosome.

Here's hoping Spring is here to stay.
