Ramsey Links Championship - On British Open Weekend

Ramsey, MN - An absolutely perfect day.  Low temps, low humidity, light breeze and on British Open weekend.  What better time to play the Links at Northfork.

The Sarazen flight continues to be the most highly contested this season.  Two veterans needed extra holes to determine a winner once again.  While Matt Harter led the front nine by a shot it was Fredy Alvear and Michael Miller who had to play an extra hole on the practice loop.  Mike might have won in regulation if not for an unfortunate lip out on 18.  Fredy made a putt on the first extra hole to claim the victory, his first of the season.

There were two first time ever winners this week.

Tyler VanHecke, Palmer flight, had a 4 shot victory.  He got those 4 shots on the front nine and held on for the win.

John Flaa, Hogan flight, shot the low round of the day (80).  John got off to a shaky start but a birdie on #5 and another on #10 steadied the ship.

Jeffrey McVay has qualified for Nationals with his 3rd win in a row.  He and Pete Rojas battled evenly through 13 holes.  Jeff minimized his mistakes on the tough finishing holes to gain a one shot win.

Bruce Mills returns to form for his second victory.  He jumped out to a 4 shot lead over Warren Ferber on the front nine helped by a birdie 2 on #7.  Paul Alexander led the back nine with a birdie on #10 that Bruce matched and he stayed close enough to capture the win.

Thanks to all who participated and as always special thanks to Deb Alexander for her assistance.  Pictures of the winners can be seen at our Picasa page.

Our next event is SATURDAY, Aug 3rd at Chaska Town Course.  Registration deadline is this Saturday the 27th.
