Squishy Stillwater Links Championship @ StoneRidge GC

Stillwater - The rain was relentless for the last several days dumping copious amounts of rain over the Twin Cities and the golf course.  The storms dissipated after one more dump on Sunday morning and gave way to sunshine for most of the day.

Wayne Sheuermann continues his total domination of the MN Tour in the Sarazen flight.  He stumbled on the first hole with a double bogey to give perennial contender Matt Harter some early hope but gained it back on the 3rd.  2 strokes ahead after 9 he stumbled again with a double on the 11th (barn hole) while Matt made birdie for a 3 shot swing.  He settled down and ran off 4 straight pars while Matt went 3 over.  Both had some difficulty with the tough 3 finishing holes but Wayne gained one more stroke to win by 3 for his 4th win of the season.

The Snead flight again was a hot contest with 2 time champion Pete Rojas and Jeffrey McVay needing extra holes to determine a winner.  Pete took the a 4 shot lead on the front but Jeff rebounded making up the 4 shots on the back nine.  Jeff won on the first playoff hole for his first victory of 2013.

Paul Alexander earned his second consecutive victory, in Jones flight, beating Warren Ferber.  He jumped out to a 3 shot lead after nine and then added one more on the back nine.

Justin Jennings lived the "StoneRidge tale of two nines" on the par 3s.  He played the two on the front at even par but was 6 over on the two tough back nine 3 pars.  He also had to overcome a quad on the 6th hole.  Still, he had a 3 shot lead, in the Palmer flight, after nine and added 4 more over Michael Jones, playing in his first tournament.

Corey McGuire won the best dressed award but also took top honors in the Hogan flight with a 6 shot win.  John Flaa, playing in his first event, stumbled out of the gate giving Corey an 8 shot advantage after nine but found his balance on the back nine gaining 2 shots back.
