Tradition Cup @ Territory GC

St. Cloud - a brilliant day and a course in great shape made for a wonderful tournament today.  If you haven't played Territory GC you owe it to yourself to put this one on your list of places to go this summer.

The headline has to be "Mike Kelley wins on home course".  You wouldn't really have expected anything different.  Mike shot a 78, opening and ending the front nine with birdies.  Willingers Palmer CHAMPION Dan Geske posted an 82 for second place but it would have been closer than that had it not been for an unfortunate mistake of hitting from the wrong tee.  We'll chalk that off to a senior moment.

The Sarazen flight was the hot contest of the day with 4 of the 5 players separated by 5 shots.  Matt Harter takes another step towards qualifying for Nationals with this win, shooting 89 to overtake Fredy Alvear by two strokes who shared the lead after nine holes with Dan Barrett.  Matt posted consecutive birdies on 9 & 10 to bring his round under control.

Jones flight was stolen, I mean won, by Bruce Mills of Faribault.  His 83 was 3rd lowest score of the day.  He posted 3 birdies on the back nine, two of which were chip-ins, for a 39.

Pete Rojas made it two wins in a row in Snead flight to once again beat local favorite Todd Klocke.  Who will challenge Pete for king of the hill?  Will Todd break the curse?  Stay tuned.

Our next event is next Sunday at White Eagle in Hudson, WI.  Registration is open through tomorrow.  Hope to see you there.
