MN Tour Player Takes Trophy at Blackwolf Run

Kohler, WI - Wayne Scheuermann of Woodbury wins the Sarazen flight at the Midwest Classic major championship at Blackwolf Run.  BWR hosted last years U.S. Women's Open Championship.  Wayne put himself into contention Saturday on the Meadows Valley course with an 88.  Sunday's round was played on the more difficult River Course and while the leaders scores were predictably higher, Wayne went two strokes better than the day before fueled by birdies at #7 (a par 4) and #10 (a par 3).  This is Wayne's second win in 2 starts in 2013 as he also captured the MN tour event at Willingers.

Paul Alexander of Chaska led the Sr. Jones flight after round 1 with the only round in the 80s in his flight on Saturday.  Paul posted a respectable second round on the River course but his second best score in the flight came up two strokes short after a fellow competitor seemingly caught lightning in a bottle.

John Juntilla of Robbinsdale placed second in the Sr. Championship flight by shooting the second best scores both days.  John's highlights included an eagle 3 on the par 5 16th on Meadows Valley on Saturday and a birdie 2 on the par 3 17th on River on Sunday.

Wayne, Paul and John have qualified for Nationals at PGA West in Sept. with their top 3 finishes in the Midwest Classic.

10 MN Tour members played in this event, 7 earning top 10s.  All in all a great showing.
