April Update

YAY IT'S FINALLY APRIL, LET'S PLAY GOLF! Well, after today's 4-8" snow fall and the next 2 weeks of way below normal temps. We've been spoiled the last couple of years with early course openings. I can see grass on the high spots of the course but that won't last long with today's forecast. Fortunately I was in Myrtle Beach last week and got a couple of rounds under my belt to hold me over until mother nature decides to give us a break.

Normally I would have written yesterday to announce the opening of tournament registration for our 2018 spring/summer events but that seemed like an especially cruel April Fools joke. Nonetheless, 6 members jumped at the chance. New member Bill Kelsey gets the eager beaver award as he has registered for all of our local events. I applaud his exuberance. I'd like to remind our veterans and inform all of our new members that I don't charge your credit card until one week prior to the tournament. After registration you may withdraw/cancel without charge until midnight 7 days before the tournament. Don't forget about the Blackwolf Run major May 19-20. It will sell out soon. The Friday tournament that same weekend at Whistling Straits Irish course is already full but accepting wait list entries. The remaining 2 majors for 2018 are now open for registration. There are still openings in most of the others as of today. Pinehurst is sold out and Horseshoe Bay has a wait list. I'd also like to point out that the date is set, July 14th, for our KC/MN Challenge tournament at Tournament Club of Iowa near Des Moines. Please plan to help us win the Challenge trophy this year.

I am excited to welcome 9 new members since last month putting our total membership at 88.
