Baker National Recap

Medina - An absolutely perfect day. If you missed this one you missed a good one. Terrific vistas, great conditions and some really good competition. It's been about 10 years since we last played here but I suspect it won't be that long before we return. Two players made this their first win on the Am Tour.

Greg Lanctot - Champ
Greg Lanctot earned his second victory of the season over Nicholas Demuth in the Championship flight. His round of 79 featured 3 birdies.

Mike French - Palmer
The Palmer flight was a shootout as usual. Mike Kelley went out in 1 over 37 and a 4 shot lead over Joe Swierczek and Steve Schubert. Mike French was one more shot back at 42 but then went on a streak of 3 birdies in 5 holes for a 1 under 35, the days low round of 77, and his first win on Tour. Mike Kelley and Steve Schubert wound up one stroke back at 78.

Robert Gardner - Hogan
The opening hole proved to be a tough test for the Hogan flight. Everybody settled in on the second hole with pars except Robert Gardner who made birdie. That would prove to be the difference at days end giving Robert his first Am Tour victory.

Ed Favorite - Sarazen
Ed Favorite had a smile on his face when he came to the scoring table. He held a 2 shot lead after 9 over Doug Bird in the Sarazen flight. He picked up 2 more shots with birdies on the back nine to finish with a 79.

Paul Alexander - Jones
The Jones flight needed an extra hole to determine the winner. Paul Alexander led by 3 at the turn after a birdie on the 9th. Jeff Loeffler made up his 5 shot deficit on the back 9 to force the playoff which Paul won on the first hole for his 4th win of the season.

Todd Klocke - Snead
Todd Klocke returns to action after being on IR. He trailed Pete Rojas by 3 at the turn and then shot a very nice 43 on the back to win by 6 and his 4th trip to the winners circle.

Todd's good fortune didn't stop there. His ticket was pulled in the 50/50 drawing giving him an extra $80 for gas money to return to St. Cloud. This puts our total donation this season at $1190. Thank you all for your continued support of Feherty's Troops First Foundation.

Closest to the pin contest awards went to Greg Lanctot on #12 which was within inches of an ace and Steve Springer on #7.

There was lots of interest in the Tour from the locals at this event and plenty of good things said by the staff at Baker National. Thanks to all who participated.

Our next event is our Tour Championship at The Wilds on 8/27-28. Registration deadline is FRIDAY the 19th. Double points and automatic qualifiers are on the line. We will also crown our 2016 Flight Champions and Player of the Year on Sunday after the tournament wraps up.
