November Tour Update

The local golf season came to an abrupt end yesterday and now we face the prospect of 5 months of COLD turkey withdrawals. Of course you don't have to sit out the entire winter. If you have warm weather travel plans be sure to check out that cities local tournament schedule. If you don't yet have plans to get away then you should review the schedule of MAJOR championships in very warm places like Maui in December, Vegas in January, Puerto Rico and Myrtle Beach in February or SoCal, Texas and Kiawah Island in March.  These 2 day tournaments are already open for registration so sign up for these as soon as possible to be sure you get in. Remember your sun screen. You'll also want to review the remaining list of MAJORs and set calendar reminders to register. The closest to us is BlackWolf Run in Kohler, WI May 16-17 which opens registration on Jan. 2 at 11:00 AM CST. Plan ahead to be sure you get into the events you want to play. Several of our members have already played in events this fall including Doug Bird, Marc Redman and Dean Dubreuil.  Marc has planned a busy winter registering for 4 Majors. John Juntilla, Dean Sengstock and Warren Ferber also have a tournament or two already locked in.  Why not join them?

Speaking of schedules. Our local schedule for 2015 is posted.  Registration for these tournaments will open in April.  The usual favorite venues are there including The Wilds, Willingers, StoneRidge and Troy Burne and a couple of your old favorites are back including White Eagle and The Links at Northfork. There are two special events on the schedule as well. Mark your calendar for the Fall Championship which will be at TPC Twin Cities on Monday, October 12th.  The July 23rd event is listed as TBA because I'm giving you an opportunity to select where you would like to play.  Send me a note with your choice and I'll do my best to fit it into the schedule.

As you plan your schedule for the 2015 season please keep in mind that the eligility requirement for Nationals has increased to 6 tournaments with 2 of them coming after May 31.

Now that the schedule is complete it is the best time to recruit new members so they have a chance to plan for the season and get into the Majors.  We have a referral program in place to reward your efforts with a $50 gift card of your choice.  Do your recruiting now as this program ends on Dec. 31st.

Please join me in welcoming new member Steve Buan of Chanhassen who will be playing in the Palmer flight.

Of course it's obvious that you can no longer post scores from rounds in MN after October 31st to the handicap system.  You should be posting rounds from your winter trips to warm weather locations still in their active season.  If you aren't sure ask the pro at the course you played or contact me.

A special THANK YOU to our Veterans today and everyday. We appreciate the freedom you have fought so hard to maintain.
