The first registration deadline of the season is this Saturday night 4/26 for our MN Opener at Rush Creek.  The system shows the deadline as 12:01 AM on Sunday but that's Eastern Daylight Time so it actually ends here at 11:01 PM Saturday night.  Why? Because I am required to commit to the number of players for the course one week in advance of a tournament. Don't miss out by waiting until the last minute.  In some cases I won't be able to increase the number of players after the deadline. Remember I don't charge your credit card until after the registration deadline.  If you didn't receive an ACKNOWLEDGEMENT email (and your name doesn't appear on the Pending Players list) try to register again.  You will get an ACCEPTANCE email of your registration only after I charge your credit card.

After the deadline I will setup the event and create pairings which will be posted and emailed by the Thurs. evening prior to the tournament.  Pairings are subject to change as I accommodate late entries.  If changes occur I will notify all affected players.  It is always a good idea to check the pairings on the tournament information page the night before the tournament.

Guest Policy
Guests are welcome at any of our local events.  Your guest needs to contact me directly to register.  The guest fee will be $25 less than the tournament fee as they will not be eligible for any prizes.  Guests may play in any flight they choose and you may request they play along with you regardless of flight.  If they have a verifiable handicap they may play in the appropriate optional $KIN$ game.

Our membership has reached 50 active players!  I am pleased to welcome our two newest members;
- Tim Palya of Shakopee who will be playing in Sarazen.  Thanks to Dean Sengstock for his referral.
- Craig Sheperd of Prior Lake who will be playing in Hogan.  Craig is a regular playing partner of mine here at The Wilds.

The current GOLFNOW referral promotion expires on April 30 so now is the time to push for your friends to join as well.  We have good numbers in Palmer and Sarazen flights.  We need more players in the Championship, Hogan, Jones and Snead flights to fill in our roster nicely.  I was at Golf Galaxy in Bloomington this past Saturday and met with a number of promising prospects.  I will be at the other three locations next month; Plymouth on 5/3, Roseville on 5/24 and Woodbury on 5/31.

Now would be a great time for you to familiarize yourself with our current Player Handbook. (click the underlined words or you can view/download it on the website).  You should also review the Rules of Golf at USGA.org.  All Rules are important but please make sure you are familiar with Rule 20which describes the procedures for lifting, dropping and placing a ball.  This is the Rule you will use most often during your round (in conjunction withRule 26, Water Hazards, and Rule 27, Lost Ball, Out of Bounds and Provisional Balls) and it is the one most often breached when players don't know the proper procedure. Rule 3-3 is the other Rule you should be fully familiar with as it is used when you have Doubt as to how to Proceed under the Rules.  This Rule allows you to play two balls (your original ball and another) when you aren't sure which way the Rules require you to play the particular situation.  You must announce to your fellow competitors your intention to play two and which one you wish to score with should the Rules allow.  Then before you turn in your scorecard you will discuss the situation with me to determine which ball was played properly under the Rules. I am in a MGA Rules meeting for the next two days to make sure I'm ready to help you.  When it comes to the Rules you never stop learning.  You can also take quizzes to test your knowledge at usga.org.

Remember you should be posting your casual rounds on our system for handicap.  If you also have a GHIN account you must update both so they reflect the same handicap index.

Lastly I'd like to remind you that I post all of these updates on our Blogpage.  If you are new to the tour or may have missed one of the updates you can find them here.  We also have a Picassa page for the photos taken each season.

I hope your swing is finding it's groove.  I look forward to seeing you soon.
