Kelley Adds to Hat Trick, Ferber Goes Low and Rojas Qualifies for Nationals

Town of Troy, WI - two weeks in a row of the best golf weather of the year.  Troy Burne was in wonderful shape and the scores showed what our members are capable of under those conditions.

Mike Kelley, Palmer flight, has now matched his 2012 win total at 4 but it wasn't easy.  Mike and Justin Jennings both struggled on the front nine with 6 over 42s and each had four bogeys on the back nine but Mike managed a birdie on the par 5 12th hole to shoot 80 and win by one shot.

Warren Ferber in the Jones flight had the third best round of the day and the best of his 5 year tournament career with an 83, 3 shots clear of Bruce Mills.  His back nine 38 was what clinched his first win of the season.

The Sarazen flight was a close contest.  Dan Barrett played the front nine one stroke better than Fredy Alvear and two better than George Hardgrove.  He then matched George on the back nine to capture the two shot victory and his second win of the season.

John Flaa earned his second win, beating two visiting tour players in the Hogan flight with an 84, 8 shots clear of Mark Benedetto from Sioux Falls.

Pete Rojas overcame a one shot deficit on the front nine to win for the third time and became the most recent member to qualify for Nationals.

Our next local event is Stonebrooke in two weeks.
