Golf
season is back! I hope your course has or will be opening soon and they
green up quickly. Our first tournament of the 2019 spring/summer season
is only 5 weeks away. Registration for most of our local tournaments is
open. Click here for our full schedule directory. You may also use the Am Tour app.
Due to an unforseen schedule conflict the StoneRidge event has been
moved to October. I am working on a replacement event for June 23rd and
will let you know as soon as it’s confirmed.
Things you need to know about local tournament registration.
- From the Schedule Directory,
click on the name of a tournament to go to the Tournament Information
Page (TIP) where you can review the details of the tournament. If
you are looking for tournaments in other parts of the country choose a
different city in the drop down on the Schedule Directory page.
- The
tournament cost includes greens fee, shared cart, range, trophies,
$25/player/round prize fund and tournament management fees. Optional
side games for each tournament are extra and cash only at tournament
check-in. Other Tours may use a different prize fund structure.
- To
register for a tournament you will find a Register Now button above the
TIP in a red bar just below the course logo or if you’re on the
Directory page you will see Register Now and Add to Cart links next to
each Tournament. TIP: Using Add to Cart allows you to register for multiple tournaments at one time.
- Even
though you entered credit card info when you joined or renewed you will
be asked for it again to register for tournaments. The credit card info
is not kept in the tournament system. It’s only kept at Golf Channel
for auto-renewal purposes, assuming you indicated you wanted it saved. If you don’t want auto-renewal of your membership you can change that in your profile or contact me for assistance.
- When you register for one of our local events
your card will not be charged until registration closes. You will
receive an email confirming your pending registration and then again
when you’re confirmed and charged after closing. Other Tours and
the Majors charge your card immediately upon registration. The KC/MN
Challenge event at TCI near Des Moines is a KC Tour event.
- Please
don’t register for tournaments with a credit card that expires before
the registration closing date. Since your card isn’t processed until
closing it will be declined. When a card is declined I don’t see the
reason. I will then send you an email invoice which will lead you to a
payment screen. Your timely response to this payment request is important in order to assure your spot in the tournament.
- The
registration deadline for all of our local tournaments is one week
before the tournament (usually Saturday). I contact the course to commit
to the number of players the following morning. Registration will re-open only if there are spots remaining to fill the tee times allotted by the course.
- You
may cancel without charge, until the registration deadline, from your
profile or by contacting me. If you cancel after the registration
deadline you will not receive a refund if I am obligated to pay the
course. If I am not, I will give you the option to apply all of the
registration fee to a future event or request a refund to your credit
card from which I will deduct $7.50 to cover credit card processing
fees. Our cancellation policy is shown on the TIP for every tournament. MN
Tour cancellation policy is different than most other Tours and the
Majors. Please make sure you understand their Cancellation Policy before
registering.
- If you have any issues with registration you can click on the HELP button along the right side of the screen. Click on my name to send an email or contact me directly by phone 612-386-2956.
April
1st marks the beginning of score posting season in Minnesota. If you
have a GHIN index you should resume posting scores to your GHIN scoring
record. Please make sure your GHIN# is in your GOLFER PROFILE on our
system so we can directly post your tournament scores. We no longer
track non-tournament scores in our system as only your tournament scores
are considered in creating your Tournament Index. If you don’t have a
GHIN# then please be aware that we do not provide a USGA Handicap Index.
If this is something you need for other than Am Tour tournament play
you should apply for a one at your local course or through the MGA.
I will be reviewing all MN Am Tour members flight placement during the
first week of May and will let you know if there is an option, or need,
to change flights.
